"Every Single Step is a great read. I was intrigued by the title and the blurb on the back of the book cover, and now that I'm done, I can testify that this book is worth taking the time to read. I congratulate Ms. Shettlesworth for her courage and willingness to be vulnerable with her readers. She uses the highs and lows of her life to offer principles of success that others can implement in their lives. Her honesty in sharing her experience with poverty and bullying, while never allowing it to deflate her dreams is inspiring. I believe you will love this book as much as I did."

"I never preordered a book before this. I saw the picture of the author on the cover and I was very interested to see what I could learn about this beautiful black queen. I waited eagerly for my copy to arrive in the mail, and when it did, I found my favorite chair in the patio, began reading, and in a few hours I realized I read the book in one sitting. The fact that she possesses tremendous inner strength comes through clearly, as she deals with being treated badly because she came from a poor family. I was sad to learn about her times of hunger and having to live without electricity and having to share one kerosene lamp with her family members. After reading this book, I am convinced that in spite of what she has accomplished, this is just the beginning, and the best is yet to come."

"Having read this book, I understand that Charmaine and I have a few things in common: we are both from Jamaica, we were both poor, and we both had to work hard to overcome the obstacles life placed before us. I grew up in Maypen in Clarendon and faced similar struggles. Seeing how she was able to achieve, in spite of her humble beginnings, gives me courage to keep pushing and not allow my circumstances to keep me down. Charmaine, thank you for sharing your story and reminding us that we don't need to begin at the top to end up on top."

"This book is inspiring and a great read. The stories are heartwarming at times, sad at other times, and sometimes it makes you angry as you read about the cruelty of others. I have recommended this book to my friends.

I stumbled onto this book by accident. I had to leave my part of a project on my coworker's desk, and as I arrived I saw it placed on the far end of the desk. When I asked her about the book and why it's so far away, she told me that she was trying to refrain from the temptation to read and not finish her work. So, I asked if I could borrow it when she was done. Next morning, she called to let me know that she finished the night before. I began reading that night. From the very beginning it was a riveting story about the author's poverty, mistreatment from the more well-to-do, bullying at school, and succeeding in spite of adversity. It is an amazingly captivating story that kept me wanting to read until the end."
